We did not always secretly vote.
There was a time that voters at paper ballot polling places were being intimidated or bribed by different interests.
BID believes the conditions under which secret ballots were popularized in 19th Century America are faded and secret ballots may now contribute, in part, to unfair results they once sought to prevent.
Modern voting has shifted dramatically to expanded vote times and in one’s own private home.
Now, millions of ballots are minted and mailed – sometimes – to vacant homes, in duplicate, to wrong addresses and even to the deceased.
It has never been more apropos to verify a statistically significant number of voters and their ballots.
BID’s mission is to produce the most accurate voter and ballot verified exit poll on a county-by-county basis and publish those results for the public at large.
The public may freely use the reports BID publishes to help build trust in local elections and produce news.
The only payment BID asks for is proper citation and a link back to BallotID.org.
NO! One may say BID is sponsored by the residents of Ventura County, California.
At the time of launch, BID is a bootstrapped, crowdfunded pilot initiative and is unaffiliated with any of the currently named political parties.
BID will retain its ethical, non-partisan voter and ballot verified exit poll according to its mission no matter who decides to support its efforts in the future.
BID uses math and reason to ensure the legitimacy and accuracy of the data and its resulting reports.
The goal for each area of each county is to achieve the highest rate of participation in proportion to the voter roll demographics published by the county’s elections office.
If participation is high enough, then BID will systematically seek to decrease the margin of error and increase representation of secondary population characteristics such as age and heritage.
No! It is not designed to do so.
Only government through legislation and action can secure elections.
Maybe. As we have seen, an effective mechanism to stop bullying is to have a wider group stand up and stand with the afflicted, lending them support and strength in numbers.
This action has an additional benefit of giving the perpetrator time to reflect and correct their action.
So, will Ballot Identity stop voter intimidation? Maybe.
No! It is not designed to do so.
BID is a voter and ballot verified exit poll of statistical significance and in proportion to a county’s voter roll demographics.
The public will conclude what it will from the data that Ballot Identity presents from its verified participant’s voter ballots.
Absolutely! Many people already do to some extent on their social media and through bumper stickers, t-shirts, hats and at protests.
On May 4, 2018, then California Secretary of State, Alex Padilla issued “County Clerk/Registrar of Voters (CC/ROV) Memorandum # 18104” that clarified exactly how posting pictures of one’s completed ballot is codified into California law and the other circumstances surrounding the new law’s usage.
